A rural mother sells her only cow so that her son Imam (Shukry Sarhan) can enroll in Dar Al-Ulum College. When Imam arrives in Cairo, he rents a room in the Citadel area from a domineering woman named Shafaat (Tahia Carioca). She is captivated by his youth and vitality and lures him into committing vice with her. As a result, his studies and health falter. At this time, a girl he has known, along with her father, since childhood, helps him get rid of all the corruption in which he lives. Her father advises him to stay away from Shafaat, but Shafaat plots against him in an attempt to keep him with her.
