Shaddad, one of the elders of the Banu Abs tribe, banishes Antarah’s daughter to tend sheep with other men because she is black. He refuses to acknowledge his paternity, as his mother was an Abyssinian slave. Antarah feels sad, as he has no father, and he did not marry his cousin Abla. The Banu Abs tribe is attacked by another tribe, and the men of the tribe seek Antarah’s help in exchange for marrying Abla.
